CULLMAN, Ala. – A vehicle reported stolen from Huntsville was recovered Monday evening in Cullman, leading to the arrest of a Lacey’s Springs man.
According to Cullman Police Chief Joey Duncan, Officer Ryan Whisenhunt located a gray Chevrolet Silverado pulling a trailer at approximately 7:10 p.m. July 13. The truck had been reported stolen from Huntsville.
Whisenhunt initiated a high-risk traffic stop in the parking lot of Sachs Art Studio near the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and Sportsman Lake Road.
“Additional Cullman Police Department officers responded to the scene to assist, and the stop was conducted safely and without incident,” Duncan said.
Police identified the driver as William Lawrence Dudley, 29, of Lacey’s Springs. Dudley was taken into custody and charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.
The vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.
“The Cullman Police Department remains committed to proactively identifying stolen property, apprehending offenders and working diligently to keep our community safe,” Duncan said. “We appreciate the professionalism and teamwork displayed by the responding officers in bringing this incident to a safe resolution.”
Dudley is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
