CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman music scene is getting continued exposure with 2nd Fridays making its return. The Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce selected the theme “Rock Around the Block” for June 12’s 2nd Fridays event.
This inspired vintage themes such as “Roll Cullman,” where visitors were encouraged to bring their own skates to Depot Park. The first 10 skaters were offered free passes to Sportsworld Skate Center.
The event had three stages, two of which featured live bands. The Cullman Ballet Theatre School members danced on the center stage.
“We hope to see many familiar faces tonight,” said Case Graham from local band Just In Case.
Graham is the band’s guitarist and stood alongside lead singer, Justin Pace.
Pace explained how the name of their band came together, “I’m Justin and he’s Case. We’re Just In Case.”
The two play songs ranging from 90s hits to country and even some occasional Elvis Presley.
Graham referred to “MTV Unplugged” as the inspiration for their sets.
Pace advised, “You never know what you’re going to get.”
The first song the band played ahead of the night was “Everlong” by The Foo Fighters.
The event also showcased other bands such as Avenue G Band and Reese Gutherie.
The next 2nd Fridays events will be Friday, July 10, with a patriotic America 250 theme and Friday, Aug. 14, with a “Neon Moon” theme. Events take place from 5:30-9 p.m. in the Warehouse District and Depot Park.
