ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. – Alabama State Troopers seized 185 pounds of marijuana Tuesday, March 31.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), a Trooper assigned to the ALEA Motor Carrier Safety Unit (MCSU) conducted a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) inspection on a tractor on Interstate 20 near the 143 mile marker in St. Clair County. That inspection allegedly led to the significant drug seizure.
During the course of the inspection, ALEA said, the driver of the tractor provided an invalid driver license. The driver, whom ALEA said was determined to be an undocumented immigrant, was later identified as Dajun Sun, 57, of Oregon City, Oregon.
Further investigation of the tractor allegedly revealed 23 boxes that contained approximately 185 pounds of marijuana.
Sun was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and operating a CMV without a commercial driver’s license (CDL). He was booked into the St. Clair County Jail on a $1.5 million bond.
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing.
