CULLMAN, Ala. – Curt’s Closet is collecting essential items through its spring and summer drive. The organization is currently seeking donations of children’s denim, athletic shoes and backpacks, items that play a key role in helping students feel confident and prepared.
Community Outreach and Fundraising Specialist Cheyenne Sharp said, “We focus heavily on school-ready essentials, items kids need every single day. When kids feel confident and prepared, it can truly impact their success in the classroom.”
Athletic shoes remain a top priority, as they are required for many school activities and can be worn daily. Denim is also in constant demand, particularly among older students.
On a typical day, Curt’s Closet serves six to 10 children, distributing up to 40 pairs of jeans. Because of that need, the organization depends on consistent community donations to maintain inventory.
Backpacks are especially needed for back-to-school season, when costs add up for families. The goal is to offer age-appropriate choices so students start the year confidently. Seasonal needs shift, with lightweight athletic wear popular in spring and school supplies required as fall nears.
To help, donate clothing, shoes and accessories at Curt’s Closet Tuesday to Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Financial support is also welcome through events like “Clothed in Cullman” on April 30, which funds back-to-school and year-round services. The Bless Your Sole Campaign also provides brand-new shoes for every child at the back-to-school event.
Curt’s Closet is located at 1101 Third Ave. SE, in Cullman. Find out more at www.facebook.com/cw20curtscloset.
