CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman City Primary School was presented with a $5,000 grant from the TVA to support the school’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program this week.
With this award, the CCPS STEM program has now received more than $10,000 in grant funding so far this school year, which has allowed teachers to expand hands-on learning opportunities and continue growing the program for students.
“One thing we were able to do was STEM career exposure,” Anna Anderson, STEM teacher at Cullman City Primary School, explained. “I really wanted our students to know what real, connected STEM careers are out there for them, so they can connect it back to the classroom.”
The program was also able to purchase a STEM library of tools, so students can understand how these activities relate to potential real-life careers.
Several community leaders were in attendance, including Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs, Councilman Paul Schaeffer, Cullman City Schools Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff, CCPS Principal Dr. Elizabeth Shaddix and other local supporters, who came to hear about the project and see how these resources are already impacting students.
