ADDISON, Ala.- Addison hosted Holly Pond in boys and girls matches on Monday night, and the Bulldogs were hoping to exact some revenge on the Broncos since they swept them just a handful of days ago. That wouldn’t happen, however, as Holly Pond soundly defeated both Bulldog teams. The Lady Broncos obliterated the Lady Bulldogs 57-21, while the Broncos kicked the mud out of the Bulldog boys 56-27 and neither game felt even as close as the final score indicated.

Holly Pond 57 – Addison 21 (Varsity Girls)

The game started well for the Lady Bulldogs as they jumped out 2-0 on a Ava Bartlett layup. It was all downhill from there, as Holly Pond ran off 23 straight points and Addison didn’t score the rest of the first period.  Addison couldn’t get a shot as the Lady Broncos pressured the young ‘Dawgs relentlessly. The Lady Broncos had 10 steals in the period alongside a balanced scoring effort. Lady Bronco Maggie Nail led with eight points and two steals. Sadie Nail had a great period with eight points, five rebounds and two steals. Maddie Butts had five points while Kylie Twilley had three steals. Addison was led by Bartlett’s two points and three rebounds.

The second period started and it didn’t get any better for the Lady Bulldogs as Holly Pond scored the first 16 points of the second. The Ladies from Holly Pond actually had scored 39 straight points as they led Addison 39-2. Addison’s Ava Bartlett hit a five-foot shot at the 1:45 mark of the second to stop the streak and cut the Bronco lead to 35. The Lady Broncos rolled Addison 16-2 in second and went into the half leading 39-4. Holly Pond’s Sadie Nail had eight points while Millie Huddleston had five. Maddie Butts had three more steals for the Lady Broncos.

Holly Pond 56 – Addison 27 (Varsity Boys)

Just like in the girls game, Addison scored first. Connor Lane hit a ten foot jumper to put Addison up 2-0, and Holly Pond responded with 18 straight points to take a commanding lead at the end of the first. It started with a Cade Allbright layup, then a Fox Westall trey, then Asher Thrift had a bucket and Ty Dunn hit a trey. With Addison unable to respond, the Broncos would get a couple of free throws by Cash Huddleston and a pair of Westall and Dunn treys and before you knew it, Holly Pond led 18-2.

Holly Pond didn’t relent. They couldn’t miss, while Addison had one of the worst shooting nights of the year. They were missing long jumpers, mid-range jumpers and even free throws and top of that, they couldn’t rebound. It was a horrible first half for the Bulldogs while the Broncos were firing on all cylinders.
