Dorothy Virginia Grimmett, known for her gentle and wise spirit, passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on February 9, 1926, Dorothy led a life full of devotion, selflessness, and enduring faith.
Dorothy was a life-long resident of Cullman County, Alabama, where she exemplified kindness and compassion in all her endeavors. Those fortunate enough to be in Dorothy’s life admired her honesty and patience, and she was cherished by family and friends alike.
She joins in peace her beloved husband, William Verlard Grimmett; her parents, Oscar and Malinda Anderson; her son-in-law, James Pike; her siblings, Florrace Hunt, Mary Perdue, and Herrald Anderson; and nieces Kathy Scott and Betty Wells.
Dorothy leaves behind her daughter, Diana Gay Pike; her grandson, Allen William Pike; her brother, Howard Anderson; niece, Gwen Burns; nephew, Larry Anderson, and many great-nieces and great-nephews and others who have been touched by her thoughtful and devoted nature. She will be remembered as a hardworking, compassionate soul who gave much of herself to others. She especially cared for children throughout her life and they always gravitated towards her in return.
A visitation will be held on November 19, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home, located at 1901 2nd Ave Northwest, Cullman, AL. The celebration of life funeral service will take place on November 20, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the same venue. A graveside committal service will follow at Cullman City Cemetery, located on 9th St SW, Cullman, AL.
Although Dorothy is no longer with us, her wise and caring nature will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
