CULLMAN, Ala. – West Elementary School will host its annual Veterans Day program for the community on Friday, Nov. 7, in the school gymnasium. There will also be a program on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the OmniPlex.

Alabama Army National Guard Field Artillery Sergeant and fifth-grade teacher Keenan Hollingsworth said the program at West Elementary was started in the 1980s and has grown bigger and better every year.

“West Elementary proudly invites students, parents, friends and relatives to join us as we honor the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces of the United States of America,” Hollingsworth said. “West’s talented fifth-grade students will perform in both programs, helping lead this meaningful tribute through song, narration and presentation.”

There will be two program times at West Elementary on Nov. 7: 8:45 a.m. for third-grade students and families and 1:15 p.m. for fourth-sixth-grade students and families. A special Veterans Reception will be held at noon in the gym, offering an opportunity to personally thank veterans for their service and sacrifice.

The program at the OmniPlex will be Nov. 5, at 1 p.m.

“West invites the entire community to come together in celebration of our nation’s veterans,” Hollingsworth said. “We want to remember, reflect and to show our heartfelt gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy because of their courage.”

West Elementary is located at 303 Rosemont Ave. SW in Cullman.

The OmniPlex is located at 1634 Field of Miracles Dr. SW, Cullman.
