CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County CASA shared it is in desperate need of funds to be able to purchase goods to serve local families.
Program Director Candace Lingo said since it’s now normal for the nonprofit to serve over 1,000 people/families per month, CASA is looking to gain financial support from the community.
“We are in need of funds to be able to help purchase more goods as needed for those that we serve,” Lingo said. “We are also needing more funds to help the CASA programs. Funds help us train and maintain volunteers to advocate for the abused and neglected children.”
CASA has 190 kids served by 21 volunteers. Lingo said, outside of basic costs, there is a serious lack of local foster and therapeutic homes.
“That means the volunteers must drive two hours or more to see their assigned kids,” Lingo said. “We also help ensure they have what they need, love to take snacks or food, and encourage interests (sports, art, school, birthdays and holidays). We definitely need more money to be able to continue helping in the way that we need to.”
