FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Fairview Aggies were back home at Dafford Smith Stadium for another region game against Lawrence County Friday night and it was another dominant night for the purple and gold. Fairview jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the opening half and the Aggies continued to pour it on in the second half, pulling away to collect a 55-6 win.

A big return from Connor Scott gave the Aggies excellent field position for their first possession. Fairview converted 4th and 10 with a pass from quarterback Kolt Redding out to Jace Stevens to reach the 5-yard line and running back Jake Harper carried it into the end zone on the next play to give the Aggies a 6-0 lead. After forcing the Red Devils to punt, an explosive run by Harper got the next Fairview possession off to another great start. Later in the drive, Stevens took a handoff on a jet sweep and sprinted into the end zone from 5 yards out to make it a 13-0 game with three minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Lawrence County put together a long, methodical drive on the ensuing possession but was eventually forced to turn the ball over on downs. A big gain on a quick pass to Scott pushed the Aggie offense across midfield. A few plays later, Redding tossed a quick pass out to Stevens, and he took it 25 yards to the end zone to stretch the lead to 20-0 with five minutes to play in the second quarter. The Red Devils were unable to get on the board before halftime and Fairview went into the locker room with a 20-0 advantage at the break.

Fairview got off to a fast start in the second half. An interception by Scott gave the ball back to the Aggie offense early in the third quarter and a few plays later, Harper took one into the end zone from 21 yards out to stretch the lead to 27-0. Redding picked off another Red Devils pass near Fairview’s goal line on the ensuing possession and the Aggies took advantage once again. After a big gain on a pass to Scott gave Fairview’s offense some breathing room, Harper took a handoff 75 yards all the way to the house for his third touchdown of the night and a 34-0 Aggie lead.

Harper’s fourth and final touchdown of the game came on Fairview’s next possession when he weaved through defenders and into the end zone from 21 yards out to make it a 41-0 game going into the fourth quarter. Lawrence County responded with a 60-yard touchdown run on the ensuing possession to trim the lead to 41-6 but the Aggies quickly got the points back. A 6-yard touchdown run by Rex Chandler put Fairview in front 48-6 and John Short punched one into the end zone in the final minutes of the game to cap a dominant, 55-6 performance by the Aggies.

Fairview (5-0) will be off next week before hosting a big region game against Russellville on Oct. 3.
