29th annual Sweet Tater Festival, Fairview Lions Club Labor Day Celebration this weekend

CULLMAN, Ala. – Two major community events are planned for Labor Day weekend: the 29th Annual Sweet Tater Festival at Smith Lake Park on Aug. 31-Sept. 1, and the Fairview Lions Club Labor Day Celebration on Sept. 1, at Randall Shedd Community Park.

The Sweet Tater Festival will run Sunday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Monday, Sept. 1, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The festival will feature live entertainment, food vendors, arts and crafts and, of course, plenty of sweet potatoes.

On Labor Day, the festival will also host its Sweet Tater Festival Car Show from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per vehicle, with armbands granting entry for both days of the festival. The Fairview Lions Club Labor Day Celebration will also take place on Monday, Sept. 1, at Randall Shedd Community Park, located at 649 Wesley Ave. North. The day will kick off with a car and truck show from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., with awards presented at 1 p.m. Registration is $20, with proceeds going to Lions Club projects.

At 11 a.m., the Lions Club will host its annual parade, open to anyone who wishes to participate. Lineup begins at 10 a.m. at the park.
