
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Tourism Bureau on Monday announced that Executive Director Harmony Heard was named Tourism Industry Employee of the Year at the 2025 Alabama Governor’s Conference on Tourism.
The award, one of the state’s most distinguished honors in the tourism field, recognizes professionals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, dedication and impact within Alabama’s travel and hospitality industry.
In addition to receiving this distinguished award, Heard will also be inducted into the Alabama Travel Council, further solidifying her role as a leading voice in shaping the future of tourism across the state.
“Since stepping into her role as executive director, Heard has worked tirelessly to elevate Cullman County as a premier tourism destination. Her leadership guided the launch of new marketing initiatives, innovative tourism development campaigns and strong partnerships with local businesses and community organizations. Her efforts have contributed to measurable increases in visitation and have highlighted Cullman County as an integral part of Alabama’s tourism landscape,” the Bureau said in a media release.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” said Heard. “Tourism is about more than just welcoming visitors — it’s about showcasing the heart of our community, supporting local businesses and creating memorable experiences that inspire people to return again and again. This recognition is a reflection of the incredible team, Board of Directors and partners I am fortunate to work with every day.”
The Alabama Governor’s Conference on Tourism, held annually, convenes industry leaders from across the state to recognize outstanding achievement and to discuss strategies for strengthening Alabama’s tourism sector.
