Funeral service for Wynell Tankersley Thompson, age 84, of Vinemont, is Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home and Mrs. Thompson will lie in state on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Burial will be at Vinemont Baptist Cemetery.

Wynell was born on September 23, 1940, to Clyde and Ruby Tankersley. She passed away at Cullman Regional Medical Center on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Armon Thompson; infant daughter, Melody Lynn Thompson; brothers William Clyde “Junior” Tankersley and Donnie Tankersley; grandsons, J.B. Velarde and Josh Dutton; son-in-law, Rickey Dutton.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Thompson Dutton; sons, Kerry Thompson (Jill) and Keith Thompson; grandchildren, Shane Dutton (Dee), Emily Nolen, Holly Alman (Chris), Katie Thompson Velarde (Tyler), Braxton Thompson, and Mabry Thompson; great-grandchildren, Cody, Travis, Aliyah, Thomas, Sam, Oliver, Allie, Mollie, Saylor, and Jack; a host of family and friends.
