A Celebration of Life will be held for Rita Annette Brooks of Hanceville, AL on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Cullman, AL. No visitation is planned.
Annette was surrounded by family and friends at Cullman Regional when she went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
She was born March 22, 1958, in Cullman, AL to Lee Wayne and Jeanette Southern Nails. Her parents preceded her in death.
Annette was a graduate of A.P. Brewer High School’s class of 1976 and was retired from Alabama Web Press where she worked as a print technician.
She was a beautiful person inside and out. Even if you just met her, her kindness made you feel welcomed and loved. She was an excellent cook and especially loved surprising friends and family with their favorite desserts.

Daughter – Lori Herald (Josh) Cary, NC
Bonus Daughter – Jessica Brooks, Rochester, NY
Grandsons – Corporal Joshua J. Herald, Camp Lejeune, NC and Ethan Herald, Cary, NC
Brothers- Rickey Nails (Denise) of Vinemont, AL and Randy Nails (Sheila) Sacramento, CA
She is also survived by aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
Annette, you are loved and you are missed.
