VINEMONT, Ala. – The Vinemont Town Council held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 4, approving several resolutions and moving forward with plans to expand the Vinemont Town Hall.
Among the major items approved was a $210,000 budget for the expansion of Vinemont Town Hall. The project will add additional office space and a larger council meeting room to accommodate the town’s future needs. The council also adopted Resolution No. 2026-08-03, authorizing a construction loan to fund the expansion.
Council members also adopted Resolution No. 2026-08-01, authorizing Mayor Bonnie Goodwin to sign an agreement with the Municipal Workers Compensation Fund, along with Resolution No. 2026-08-02, establishing a $10,000 certificate of deposit for future employee retirement contributions to the Retirement Systems of Alabama.
Additional approvals included the town’s 2026-2027 Rebuild Alabama Transportation Plan and the purchase of a new privilege license software module from CSA Software Solutions at a cost of $2,295.
During the work session, council members discussed the possibility of installing Christmas lights on 13 utility poles along U.S. Highway 31 as part of future Christmas decorations. The council also discussed the town’s social media presence, including how to address negative comments while maintaining public engagement on town posts.
The meeting concluded with several upcoming community announcements:
- Ribbon cutting for 31 South Beauty Lounge – Aug. 8, from 4-7 p.m.
- Senior Citizens Day – Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Vinemont Community Center
- Budget work session – Aug. 18, at 5:30 p.m. at South Vinemont Town Hall
The next meeting of the Vinemont Town Council will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Vinemont Town Hall. The work session will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the regular meeting to follow at 6.
