Mr. and Mrs. Adell Maner and Barbara and Mrs. Perry Maner enjoyed dinner Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Purvis Wilhite and boys. The two families have dinner together on the first Sunday in December every year.
Mrs. Nancy Jane Grizzard and her son, Aubry of Gadsden visited Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Olson and children, Friday afternoon.
Pvt. Harold Drake and his friend, Frank DeLuca, whose home is in New York, spent the week-end here with Harold’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnie Drake. They are stationed at Fort Jackson, S. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Parker of Leedsdale visited Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Wilhite, Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Fergurson and children are visiting relatives in Rogersville this week.
Doris Norris of Enon spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Verlon Duke.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob South spent Thursday with Mrs. Marvin Blackmon.

Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Maddox are parents of a baby boy, born Nov. 20th.
Mr. and Mrs. Trente Adair are visiting relatives here this week. They live in Cresview, Fla., where Mr. Adair is stationed with the Navy.
Mrs. Doris Maddox Adair is also visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Maddox of Prospect and sister, Mrs. Louise Brown of Beech Grove.
John Maddox is out of the hospital.
Mrs. Gladys Boatright has had to go back to Jefferson Hillman Hospital for another operation.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldridge Maddox have returned to Birmingham to their jobs after visiting here.
Visiting Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Maddox this week were Billy Hugh Brown, Geraldine Brown, Elouise Brown, Beatrice Brown, Mary Louise Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Brown all of Beech Grove.
Mr. and Mrs. Tanner Smith are parents of a baby girl which they have named Dianne Eloise. They are now making their home in Georgia.

Arriving on Saturday morning, Dec. 1st at the Cullman Hospital was Robert Arnold Schaefer, Jr. Almost as excited about him as his parents is his maternal grandfather, Paul Howard, and why not since Dec. 1st is Grandfather Howard’s birthday too.
There have been several grass fires this week but all were extinguished before any damage was done. There were a couple Saturday, one near the Bama Cafe and another near WKUL Radio Station, and one Wednesday near Dr. Frank Stitt’s residence.
In special elections on the University of Alabama campus recently Robert A. Moore of Cullman was elected secretary-treasurer of the College of Engineering. He is the only son of County Superintendent of Education and Mrs. R. E. Moore.
Now a registered nurse is Virginia Lee Mitchell, daughter of the A. G. Mitchells and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto O. Richter. She is a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and St. Vincent School of Nursing and recently passed the state board of examiners with an 89.3 average.
When the men left for military service last Friday morning members of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary were on hand to serve coffee and give each a gift and cigarettes.
After spending a ten day furlough here Pfc. Kenneth Glasscock has returned to Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. Going with him for a visit were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Glasscock. They report having a wonderful time in Fort Smith and visiting in Oklahoma.
The City’s parking meter inspector, Herman Woodard, is ill with pneumonia in the Cullman Hospital this week.
Home from Fort Riley, Kansas for a leave is John W. Craven before reporting to Seattle, Wash. for a new assignment with the Army. Craven was among the rescue squad in the great Kansas flood last July and while on duty suffered an injury to his leg. He is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Craven of Rt. 8, Cullman.
Among the more than 18,000 students enrolled at Ohio State University for the autumn quarter is one from Cullman. He is Robert D. Calvert.
Twin daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Dison Hamner (Mary Ella Buettner) at the Cullman Hospital this morning, Dec. 6th.
The Community Chest had reached approximately the half way mark this week. However there is still a long way to go to reach the $15,000 quota. Chest officials urge all citizens to give as liberally as possible keeping in mind that they are giving to seven different agencies when they contribute to the Chest. Anyone who hasn’t contributed may do so by mailing a check or money order to Community Chest, Cullman, Ala.

Mrs. W. L. Wright is still in the Cullman Hospital. Her condition remains serious.

Uncle Will Minners of Harpersville is visiting the Bozle children of this community.
Cpl. and Mrs. Othanial Benefield attended church Sunday. His arm is still in a cast.
Tommie and Larry Johnson of East Point visited Mr. and Mrs. J. F. McKinzie over the week-end.
Little Mary Joe Latham spent Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Latham.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Allen are moving to Birmingham this week.
A new heating system will be installed in the church here by next Sunday.
Bobbie Latham is home from South Carolina. He will soon go back to a hospital in Birmingham.

The P.T.A. sponsored a box supper and cake walk at the school on Wednesday night. Woodfin Graham won the ugliest man cake and Jeanell Tubbs won the prettiest girl cake.
Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson of Birmingham visited here over the week-end.
Uncle Bob Phillips is improving now at his home. His twin sons, Roy and Troy, of Ethredge, Tenn. were at his bedside most of last week.
J. D. Davis is doing fine at the Cullman Hospital where he underwent an appendectomy last Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lowery and Mr. and Mrs. V. O. Caples are enjoying new television sets.
R. C. Phillips, Jr., and Miss Sara Reid attended the Auburn-Alabama football game at Legion Field Saturday.
Morris Matthews of Akron, O., is visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Morris.
A group of 8th grade students from Good Hope School enjoyed a party at the home of Johnnie Gentry on Tuesday night.

Junior Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Johnson, won the turkey Friday night at the turkey supper at Berlin School. They realized about two hundred dollars.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Shinn and Vicki, of Jacksonville, Fla., visited the Hamp Waddells here recently as well as Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Cullom of Cullman and Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Torrence of Holly Pond.
Mrs. Henry Patterson, Mrs. Charles Walker, Mrs. Marvin Clark, Paul Bentley and little Tonie Luke, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Duke are all ill.
The W. I. Duskins were here from Atlanta last week-end.
Mrs. Clarence Johnson is entertaining her Sunday School class at a class party Saturday night.
John Bentley has a new car.
Mr. and Mrs. John Bishop, who moved to Birmingham, were here last week-end.
Roy Clark has moved into Jack Payne’s house to cultivate Jack’s farm another year.
