CULLMAN, Ala. – Tyler Hudson, 27, of Baileyton, who was arrested with Andrew Maresh in March 2018 for the murder of Daniel Ray Osborn II in Fairview, pleaded guilty to murder on Monday, June 23, 2025, ahead of his upcoming trial. Maresh was convicted of the murder in 2021, after claiming that Hudson had pulled the trigger.
Osborn’s body was found buried on the Fairview property of Susan Winton Smith, Maresh’s grandmother, on the afternoon of March 26, 2018. Court documents revealed that Osborn died of a gunshot wound to the back of his head. Hudson and Maresh were arrested and charged with murder that evening. Smith was later charged for not reporting the crime.
According to court records, Hudson received a 25-year sentence for his role in the crime. Maresh received a 99-year sentence on his conviction.
For Hudson, the court also assessed a $40,000 fine, along with $2,388.75 to the state’s victim restitution fund and other court costs.
According to Cullman County District Attorney Champ Crocker, Hudson’s case was handled by the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.
