Ruth, beloved wife, mother grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in Cullman, Alabama, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 14, 1948, Ruth made her home in Cold Springs where she built a life full of love, kindness and quiet strength. She was the cherished wife of Mark Thompson and together they raised a beautiful family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Connie Duncan, sister, Sara Jerlene Beasley and son Kenneth Jeffrey Thompson.

She was survived by her husband of 58 years, Mark Thompson; son, Preston Mark (Amanda) Thompson; daughter, Tobi (Mark) Wilson; stepdaughter, Brenda (Paul) Miller; brothers, Kenneth (Ruth) Duncan, and Andy (Mary Ann) Duncan, and a multitude of grandchildren, family and friends.

She cherished her family above all else, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with them. Her home was always filled with love, laughter and the comfort of knowing we were loved and cared for.

Ruth had a gentle spirit and a heart that welcomed all. Her smile could brighten any room, and her presence had a way of making everything feel better. Whether she was crocheting a new blanket, lost in a good book, or listening to her favorite Christian hymns. Ruth found joy in life’s simple moments and shared the joy with others. To know her was to be bless by her warmth, her wisdom and her unwavering faith. She touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of love that will never fade.
