Wayne Walker qualifies to run for Cullman City Board of Education

CULLMAN, Ala. – Wayne Walker recently announced he has qualified to run for Place 4 on the Cullman City Board of Education.

Below is Walker’s announcement:

Wayne Walker, a longtime public servant, United States Navy veteran, and respected member of the Cullman community, has officially qualified to run for Place 4 on the Cullman City School Board. The election will be held on Aug. 26, 2025.

Walker, a proud resident of Cullman, is deeply rooted in the city’s school system. He has three children and two grandchildren who have graduated from Cullman City Schools, and two grandchildren currently enrolled in the system.

“I want to serve the parents, children and teachers of Cullman by helping make our city schools the safest and most effective learning environment in the state,” said Walker. “This is a community I care deeply about, and I want to ensure our schools continue to thrive for future generations.”

Wayne Walker brings a strong record of public service, leadership experience and military service to the race:

  • United States Navy veteran
  • 12 years on the Cullman City Council
  • Eight years on the Cullman-Jefferson Gas Board
  • Four years as deputy commissioner for the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries
  • 15 years as owner of Jack’s Truck Stop Restaurant

Though retired, Walker remains active in the community, currently working part time at Jack’s Western Wear in Good Hope, Alabama.

“I’ve always believed in giving back,” Walker added. “I’m committed to listening, learning and working hard to support the students and staff who make Cullman City Schools great.”

The municipal election will take place Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025.
