CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman High School Class of 1965 celebrated its 60th anniversary on Thursday, June 12, at the All Steak Restaurant. The event brought classmates from near and far back to Cullman to reconnect and celebrate the passage of time. The reunion provided the former classmates with an opportunity to catch up over a relaxing dinner and drinks and look back on old photos and memory boards throughout.

Among those in attendance were Carolyn Peinhardt and her husband, Bill Peinhardt, who also served as class president. The couple shared that this year’s gathering was designed to be more casual compared to the larger 50th reunion celebration.

“This time, it’s all about mixing, mingling and talking. We just wanted a chance to visit and catch up with old friends,” said Carolyn Peinhardt.

The reunion continued Friday morning with breakfast and a tour of Cullman High School, which has undergone significant changes since the Class of 1965 graduated. One of the most memorable aspects of the event was the display of photo boards honoring classmates who have passed away. The tribute served as a reminder of the years gone by and cherished memories.

“You don’t realize when you’re young, but at our age, it’s hard to remember who’s still with us and who’s not. This is our way of remembering them,” said Bill Peinhardt.

Organizers spent weeks tracking down contact information and reconnecting with classmates, a task made more difficult by the passage of time, but one they say was well worth the effort.

“We’re just really thankful for everyone who helped organize this and for those who made the effort to attend,” Carolyn Peinhardt said. “We had a good class with a lot of great friendships, and it’s wonderful to be together again.”
