Mr. Culwell began at age 20 driving a log truck with his uncle.  Within a year he purchased logging equipment and had his own crew.  He continued off and on in the timber industry for many years.  Heavy equipment was his primary interest, leading him to bid utilities jobs in and around Jefferson and Shelby counties.  He then obtained his Alabama General Contractors License completing many utility projects in and around Birmingham.  He had several big trucks to move the equipment and began using the trucks in over the road transport or hauling logs.  His last job was with another utility contractor operating an overhead crane.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Culwell, who was nicknamed Tucker at a very early age by his granddad, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville, Alabama. He spent his entire life on the same mountain in Blount County, Alabama, where he was born at home.

Mr. Culwell is survived by his wife, Sara Frances Culwell;  children, Rachel (Glenn) Fischer, Casey (Melissa) Culwell; grandchildren, Justin (Hayley) Littleton, Zachary (Whitney) Williams, Brandon (Kayla) Williams, Austin Culwell; step grandchildren, Brad Fischer, Kayla Fischer; great grandchildren, Emma Kate Littleton, Jayden Littleton, Jason Sturgel; siblings, James Terry Culwell, Patricia (Michael) Jackman; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Culwell was preceded in death by his father, Bill S. Culwell; mother, Lucille Boren Culwell; brother, Jason Lee Culwell; and sisters-in-law, Sandra Culwell, and Candy Culwell.

Hanceville Funeral Home is honored to serve the Culwell family.
