James Hershel Morgan Sr. passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, in Hanceville, Alabama, at the age of 81.
James was born on June 19, 1943, in Birmingham, Alabama, to John Bracey and Johnnie Ruth Morgan. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Karen Morgan, and his son, James Hershel Morgan Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Jodi (James) Allison; his son, Jamie (Nisha) Morgan; his grandchildren, Wesley Moss, Kristen (Jared) Riddlesperger, Jeremy Morgan, Dustin Morgan, Briana (Madylyn) Morgan, DJ Morgan, Abigail Allison; and a host of great grandchildren.
James was a gracious, selfless man, who spent his life giving everything he possibly could to help others. He was a devoted member of the Local 91 Union, where he worked as a welder for 55 years. He was also a life-long fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, and his family will always share the fond memories of his cap being thrown during every football game.
He often enjoyed fishing and tending to his land, and he poured his intense focus into everything he touched. Above all, he deeply loved the Lord and his cherished family. His devotion ran clear throughout everything he did – for his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren, and for the strong faith that guided him.
