CULLMAN, Ala. – The Read Between the Wines Book Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at Sipsey Winery inside The Flying Fifty Hotel. Membership is free and open to all.

“I’ve always been a total bookworm,” said the club’s coordinator, Madison Wren. “When my aunt and uncle, who own Sipsey, suggested starting a club here, I thought it was brilliant!”

The club was initially founded by Wren’s cousin, Erica Smith. It began at Sipsey’s original location in Double Springs. Wren now leads the Cullman chapter, focusing on community and fun. Meetings are relaxed and open.

“People grab a glass of wine, get comfy and we just chat about the book of the month. It’s all about sharing thoughts, swapping recommendations and enjoying the vibe,” Wren shared.

Books are selected based on member suggestions, though Wren hinted at future-themed months and rotating book leaders.

What makes the club unique is the winery setting.

“We’re thinking book-and-wine pairings, genre-themed nights, maybe even author visits,” said Wren. “I’m planning on weaving the local business into our bookish adventures. Think themed nights that match book genres, maybe some evenings with book and wine pairings — and hopefully even inviting local authors to come chat with us.”

Wren said she hopes to create a welcoming space for all to come, mingle and relax. “I hope people find their tribe — a space to connect over stories and feel welcome,” she said.
