CULLMAN, Ala. – Monday was a special day for Cullman High School’s Southerner Yearbook staff. They learned recently that the 2025 yearbook was chosen to be part of Walsworth Yearbook’s Gallery of Excellence and a representative from Walsworth presented them with an award for their work on Monday. The award is given to yearbooks that consistently demonstrate superior quality. CHS Yearbook Sponsor Denise Burroughs was excited to see the staff receive this recognition and is proud of the work they have put in to earn it.

“I’m extremely proud of this group of young women,” Burroughs said. “They worked very hard, and they always do.”

Walsworth President Don Walsworth stated in a letter to Burroughs,

“Please accept my congratulations on your 2025 Cullman High School yearbook being chosen to be part of the Walsworth Gallery of Excellence.

The Gallery of Excellence yearbooks play a crucial role in the yearbook inspiration process for students and advisers nationwide. We highlight our Gallery of Excellence yearbooks at workshops and training events as well as in printed classroom resources and online galleries. These elite yearbooks provide countless staffs all over the country with inspiration and demonstrations of scholastic journalism at its finest. By showcasing the covers, spreads, photos and coverage ideas from exceptional publications like yours on our website and in our educational materials, Possibilities book, Yearbook Suite curriculum and Idea File magazine, student journalism as a whole is made stronger.

Exceptional yearbooks don’t happen by chance – they require unparalleled creativity and commitment to see the vision turn into a printed reality. Your yearbook represents the absolute best of yearbooks, encapsulating the moments that defined the school year with journalistic skill and aesthetic appeal. Not only that, but you taught your students valuable, lifelong lessons about the value of hard work and community. Those lessons will translate into many areas of their life beyond the classroom.

The work ethic and talent exhibited by you and your students has earned your yearbook a coveted place in our Gallery of Excellence – a prestigious distinction which honors the highest caliber yearbooks we print. Only a small percentage of books we print achieve this recognition.

We are incredibly honored to be your printing partner and offer our warmest congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.”
