HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College will hold a ribbon-cutting on Saturday, March 8 at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the beautiful, new synthetic turf softball field installed at Pete Harris Field inside Bobby McCracken Stadium.

“We are extremely excited to cut the ribbon on the softball field before the team’s first home game of the season,” said Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics. “The college has invested more than $2 million in new fields and scoreboards at the softball and baseball fields. This significant investment not only enhances the safety and performance of student athletes, but also demonstrates our commitment to providing athletics facilities of the highest quality.”

The $2 million investment in softball and baseball are part of an almost $5 million investment overall in athletics facilities at Wallace State.

After the ribbon cutting the Lions, ranked 11th in the nation in the National Junior College (NJCAA) Division 1 Softball Poll, will take the field in a double header against Gadsden State Community College.

The community is welcome to attend Saturday’s ribbon cutting, with a special invitation extended to former players for the Lions. Admission to the games will be free, with free popcorn for all attending. Campus Ministries will host a cookout for Wallace State alumni, family and friends. A drawing for a Wallace State -branded Yeti cooler will also be held.
