FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Fairview Town Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Keith Henry and opened with an invocation by Councilwoman Julie Grimes on Monday, March 3, 2025.

In the wake of Fairview Volunteer Fire Department Chief Alan Miner’s passing on Feb. 8, the council discussed ways to show its respects. In lieu of flowers, the council decided to offer a donation to the fire department.

“The fire department was his baby; he thought a lot of it. We always donate flowers, but this time we want to do a little different. We want to do a little more,” stated Henry.

The council opted to meet with the fire department to identify needs that can be met and make an official donation motion at the next town council meeting.

The next item of business was discussing the need of a new utility task vehicle for park maintenance. Henry volunteered to research the best prices and said he would speak with the council when he finds an appropriate option. The council made a motion for the mayor to spend up to $12,000 and purchase the vehicle upon council approval via telephone as the UTV is needed before the next scheduled meeting.

In other business, the council discussed:

  • Updated patching of Wesley Avenue, which is temporarily painted and will be finished with reflective paint once the asphalt has had time to cure
  • The mayor will meet with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs on Thursday to discuss updating the sewer system in hopes of welcoming new businesses in the future

The next Fairview Town Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on April 7, 2025, at Fairview Town Hall located at 7525 Alabama Highway 69.
