CULLMAN, Ala. – Last week, two Cullman County’s nonprofits were awarded generous checks totaling $20,000 from Cullman Electric Cooperative (CEC) and CoBank’s Sharing Success Grant Program.

Yearly, CEC leaders discuss and assess which of the many local nonprofits will receive the philanthropic funds from the grant program. This year’s recipients were the Good Samaritan Health Clinic and Cullman County’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Each of the chosen organizations invests in the future of the community, one in the physical health of the population, and one in the educational success of its youngest residents.

“The money set aside for the donation comes from revenue Cullman Electric earns through its billing services and not electricity sales,” shared Lindsey Dossey, CEC manager of communications and marketing. “Cullman Electric has participated in the Sharing Success program since it started in 2012 and has helped local nonprofit agencies receive $175,000.”

Good Samaritan received a total of $8,000 to go towards its Capital Campaign. Breaking ground in 2025, Good Samaritan is just over $1 million away from its goal for its new 5,050-square-foot clinic, set to have four exam rooms, a cardio room, a medication dispensary with a drive-through and a larger dual-use waiting space to serve Cullman County’s uninsured population aged 19-65.

Cullman County’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library received a grant for $12,000 to support funding the chapter. The program, free to all families with young children in the area, provides free monthly books to children aged 5 and younger. In 2023 alone, the program provided 2,921 local children with more than 83,000 books.
