BREMEN, Ala. – The Stony Lonesome Sasquatch Mud Run will take place this Saturday, May 11, at 8 a.m. at Stony Lonesome OHV Park.

Cullman County Parks and Recreation Marketing Director Sara Morgan said the department has been hosting the mud run for nine years (it was formally the Mud Run). One thing that makes the race popular is that it is beginner friendly.

“We have a couple of obstacles, but you can always choose to bypass if you’re not comfortable in doing them,” Morgan said. “We also have a 1-mile fun run if you’re not up to the 5K distance.”

Some of the obstacles, according to Morgan, are rope climbs, mud crawls, big hills and some balancing challenges.

“This is the ONLY event of its kind locally – playing in the mud is always a fun time,” Morgan said. “The rock garden is one of my favorites spots because it’s so unique and fun to climb. Just when you think you can’t climb higher you just keep going. The mud always makes it a bit more challenging, but everyone enjoys it more because it makes for a funny story. The mud crawl has been a new edition and we have gotten many laughs and compliments on that obstacle. As always, a crowd favorite is our finish line – the mud slide.”

Morgan continued, “We will have mud run shirts available for purchase if you missed the T-shirt deadline. Registration will be open at 6 a.m. the day of the race. We can’t wait to see everyone there.”
