CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday, April 8, presented a certificate of commendation to Cherri Drake, thanking her for 28 years of service on the City of Cullman Planning Commission. Drake served from 1996-2024.

Mayor Woody Jacobs said, “She’s been a guiding force on the Planning Commission. That’s an important role in the city, and planning is the right word, and all different kind of projects come before that. So she’s done that. We hate to lose her. We understand, you know, that seasons of life and things move on, and times change.”

The mayor then appointed Cheryl Harrison to fill Drake’s position on the commission. Harrison, wife of Cullman Regional Airport Director Ben Harrison, is also president of the Cullman City School Board.

Council members laughingly said to Harrison of her coming service, “The standard is 28 years.”
