CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Child Development Center (CDC) is reaching out to the community and hoping for an outpouring of love and support for its students. The school’s parent teacher organization (PTO) is rallying together and throwing the school’s biggest bash, the Family Expo. The free annual event will be held at the Cullman County Agricultural Trade Center on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

“This annual event is more than just a family friendly exposition; it’s a celebration of community and a chance for local resources and businesses to engage with families from Cullman and surrounding counties,” said event chair Jennifer Hodges. “It is centered around kids, families, parents and caregivers, but all are welcome. Not only are we raising funds for our school and increasing awareness of our programs and services for our community’s children with disabilities, but also facilitating an uplifting day of inclusion and community spirit!”

More than 70 vendors are booked to line the walkways and arena of the Ag Center, more than doubling the participation from previous years’ events. The parking areas will also hold designated vendor spots, as the interest in the event has grown exponentially. Booths from local vendors, artisans, small businesses, nonprofits and makers will be on-site. Many of Cullman’s favorite food trucks will also be there.

Children will find hours of entertainment at the venue, with Wildman Rentals providing inflatable bouncy houses and a petting zoo with live and cuddly animals from Talley-Ho Farm from 1-4 p.m. Keeping every kind of family and child in mind when planning the family festival, the United Way of Cullman County and CDC PTO are providing an area specifically for those individuals who may need a little cooling off or settling down; there will be a sensory-friendly zone with comfortable seating and an area to relax.

Hodges said, “We also will have a sensory area, provided by the United Way of Cullman County, for anyone needing extra sensory input, or a place to relax. There will be ramps installed to access the activities on the arena floor, so strollers, wheelchairs or other mobility devices are welcome.”

The Family Expo will be held at the Cullman County Agricultural Trade Center located at 17645 U.S. Highway 31. The expo will take place on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
