CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs has proclaimed the week of March 11-17, 2024, Brain Awareness Week in the city of Cullman to help expand interest in the brain, brain research and brain-related disorders. During this week, the Pilot Club of Cullman joins Pilot Clubs across the world to provide information about brain disorders and diseases that affect one in six adults and children. This international effort includes hospitals, schools, government agencies and community groups working together.

“The City of Cullman appreciates the work that our local Pilot Club does to help serve people affected by brain-related disorders,” said Jacobs. “The club supports many worthwhile causes, and brain awareness and support is one that benefits many families in our community.”

The Pilot Club of Cullman is one of approximately 300 clubs of Pilot International, a global organization of leaders working together to improve the quality of life in local communities throughout the world. Pilot International’s focus on service to people affected by brain-related disorders was adopted in 1990. Since then, approximately 15,000 adult and youth members have been working together to increase awareness and raise funds for programs associated with this focus.

One of the Pilot Club of Cullman’s biggest fundraisers is the annual Pilot Club Fashion Show. This year’s event will be held April 24, 2024, at The Venue at Cotton Creek. Tickets are on sale now from Pilot Club members. Proceeds from this fundraiser are used to further the club’s efforts to serve those affected by brain disorders, increase awareness of the advances and benefits of brain research and award grants and scholarships supporting students pursuing vocations in brain health and safety.
