CULLMAN, Ala. – Zombie Trail Races, a local running company, will host the Bones and Barrels Endurance Beer Mile 5K at Palomino RV Resort on March 16.

ZTR Owners Trey Clark and Nick Doss said they got the idea from a few other beer mile events they had run before and wanted to create one locally.

“There weren’t any in Alabama at the time so we thought we’d add this race to the list,” Clark said. “We’d like to thank our amazing sponsors for making this possible. Our presenting sponsor, Goat Island Brewing, donates for all of the beer for our race and it is fantastic! Palomino RV Resort allows access to all of their facilities and beautiful trails. Last, the City of Cullman for hosting us for our third year of this race.”

Clark said he and Doss got the name for their race company from the shared love of horror films and shock rocker Rob Zombie.

“We have several other races around Alabama,” Clark said. “We have a donut run in February (Ultra Donut Dash 5K), a 100 mile/50 mile/50K in April (Chief Ladiga), a 7.4 mile night race on the 4th of July (Shiner Ridge Revival), a backyard style race on Aug. 31 (Zombie Backyard Ultra), Halloween Havoc Half Marathon and 6 mile night race, and a New Years Eve party race (Run Undead Ultra Trail Party).”

Clark said their favorite thing about race day is seeing runners and volunteers enjoy themselves.

“We are  super proud of all the first-time trail runners we’ve welcomed to our sport,” Clark said. “We love seeing our runners and volunteers have a great time.”

The Bones and Barrels Endurance Beer Mile 5K, will be held at the Palomino RV Resort in Cullman on Saturday, March 16, with a 10 a.m. start. There is a $60 entry fee (register on Ultrasignup.com). Join for the fun 3-mile trail run, with three beers along the course (start, halfway, finish).
