LEEDS, Ala. – The Arabian Knights traveled to take on No. 5 Leeds in the opening round of the 5A state playoffs Friday night, but the Greenwave was too much for the Knights to handle and Arab’s season came to an end with a 33-7 loss.

Leeds split the uprights with a 37-yard field goal on its first possession to take an early, 3-0 lead over Arab and at the start of the second quarter, the Greenwave punched one into the end zone on fourth and goal to make it a 10-0 game. Leeds capped off its next drive with another touchdown to add to its lead and the Knights went into the locker room trailing the Greenwave 16-0 at halftime.

Leeds put together another scoring drive early in the third to build a 23-0 lead over the Knights and a defensive touchdown by the Greenwave stretched the lead to 30-0 going into the fourth. Another Leeds field goal made it a 33-0 game early in the final period and Arab was able to get points on the board in the final minutes of the game, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early lead and the Greenwave went on to defeat the Knights 33-7.
