CULLMAN, Ala. –  A 19-year-old Oneonta man was killed in a single-vehicle crash at approximately 3:45 a.m. Sunday, June 18. Alabama State Troopers identified the victim as Cristian Alvarado-Hernandez.

Troopers said Alvarado-Hernandez was fatally injured when the 2004 Ford pickup he was a passenger in left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. Troopers said Alvarado-Hernandez was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Ford pickup was Jose L. Herandez-Rodriguz, 20, of Guntersville, according to Troopers.

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 231 near the 284 mile marker, approximately 2 miles south of Arab, in Cullman County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
