CULLMAN, Ala. – A little drizzle and unseasonably chilly temps weren’t going to stop hundreds of Cullman area seniors from celebrating Senior Day at the Cullman Strawberry Festival Friday morning at the Festhalle.

Seniors from Vinemont to Colony gathered for fellowship, lunch, live music and dancing. The morning was fun and jam-packed with friendly competition, with Elizabeth Hayes winning a “Twist” dance-off, Pam Scott winning a bucket of strawberries by guessing the number of berries correctly and of course, several bingo winners.

Music was provided by The Cadillac Band, which played all the old hits from crooners like Roy Orbison and Elvis, and more upbeat classics from Little Richard and Chubby Checker. The energy was infectious, with seniors lining up in the Festhalle to twist, twirl and slow dancing.

Cullman County Commission on Aging Director Stephanie Lawson said, “We were hoping for better weather, but that didn’t stop them from coming! We are so blessed for any opportunities we get to love on our seniors.”
