CULLMAN, Ala. – The Water Systems of Cullman County on Friday, April 21, will host the 18th annual Water Festival: “The Wonderful World of Water” at Wallace State Community College. The yearly event is for fourth-grade students and teachers across Cullman County.

The employees of the Cullman Water Treatment Plant have already helped prepare water cycle bracelets that will be used to teach students about the importance of water and its source preservation.

The event will allow students to participate in hands-on activities like building aquifers, watersheds, filtration systems and water cycle systems. At the end of the event, all students who attend will be treated to a magic show by an environmental magician.

Each year, students submit drawings to the festival committee chairperson. The winning drawing is used as the festival’s logo and appears on festival T-shirts. The winning student and his or her teacher each receive a $100 gift card. The runner-up student and teacher receive $50 gift cards. This year’s winning student was Beckitt Nunnelley from West Point Intermediate School. The runner-up was Lola Beavers, also from West Point Intermediate School.

Festival volunteers are still needed. Contact Kathy Holmes at 256-734-6471 for more information.
