VINEMONT, Ala. – The Cullman Family Expo, hosted by the Cullman County Child Development Center (CCCDC) PTO, will take place this Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Cullman County Agricultural Center.

The event, sponsored by EvaBank and Encore Rehabilitation, aims to assemble resources for families available locally, offer some free family friendly entertainment for the kiddos and raise funds for ongoing projects and needs at the school.

Said Chris “Coach” Chambers, CCCDC principal for the last 11 years, “Our goal is to make everybody aware of the multitude of resources that we have in our community. We can build relationships that make a connection between help and those that need it.”

Chambers said the event isn’t the first community forums hosted by the CCCDC, but certainly the first of this grand scale, due largely in part to a very active PTO.

“All kudos goes to our PTO. These two ladies, Stephanie Childers and Jennifer Hodges, go above and beyond with the partnerships they’ve created for us here at CDC,” he said.

Chambers remarked on how instrumental the women are, not only as parental liaisons, but also in their belief of the core mission of the school. “We want that new parent of a child with special needs, or adult with special needs, to know what is available here locally. We want to foster that connection between people. That’s huge.”

The afternoon will be packed with a plethora of unique vendors and exhibitors. Attendees can expect to see food trucks peddling chicken sandwiches and shaved ice, booths set up by local nonprofits and therapists handing out information about their services, as well as local artists selling their handmade wares like sublimated shirts and baked goods. Bounce houses, a petting zoo and a sensory play space will round out the kids’ area, which Wildman Rentals and Shady Acres Farm are sponsoring.

All proceeds will benefit students at the CCCDC, which aims to empower its students with skills to become independent and contributing members of society by partnering with parents and community stakeholders for student success.
