CULLMAN, Ala. – Flourish of Cullman’s third annual Putting F-O-R-E Independence Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at Cross Creek Golf Course.

Proceeds will go toward renovating the Robert Squires Independent Living Apartment in Welti. The apartment was named in honor of former Flourish client Robert Squires, who passed in January 2021. The apartment is meant to be a place for individuals with disabilities to stay and learn the skills they need to be independent and live independently.

The first Putting F-O-R-E Independence Golf Tournament was held in 2018 to cover the insurance cost for Flourish and its board of directors. Flourish relies on donor support to operate and provide vital services for participants who need financial assistance.

Executive Director Melissa Dew said, “The community has been so good to us over the years. This year interest is down, so we could use golf teams and hole sponsors.”

Current sponsors include TheraPlay, Karma’s Coffee House, Alabama Archives, Robbie Downs- Hagemore Real Estate, IMPC and Encore Rehabilitation.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8. The cost to play is $75 a person for four-member teams.  Lunch of a pulled pork sandwich, chips and beer or soda will be provided. The first prize is $500, and second prize is $250. Contact the Flourish office at 256-735-4186 to register.

Flourish of Cullman is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities live, work and play independently with a circle of support. For more information about Flourish and the services it provides, visit www.flourishofcullman.com.
