CULLMAN, Ala. – The newest restaurant to come to Cullman opened its doors Friday. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is located at 1311 Second Ave. SW (U.S. Highway 31), Ste. F, in Cullman, across the street from Firehouse Subs.
Tropical Smoothie offers made-to-order smoothies, wraps, sandwiches and flatbreads. It aims to “spread sunshine and inspire better” with several healthy options, including vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-friendly choices.
Tropical Smoothie Franchise Development Corporation was founded in 1997 in Destin, Florida, and the first franchised store opened in 1998 in Tallahassee. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is now headquartered in Atlanta, with more than 960 locations nationwide.
Dyne Hospitality Group, the franchise owner of the new Cullman location, is the largest franchisee of Tropical Smoothie Cafes in the country with 94 locations in six states.
Kristin Conley, field marketing manager for Dyne Hospitality Group, said, “We are super excited to be here in Cullman. This is our fifth cafe in Alabama so we’re just very excited to be serving your community.”
General Manager Dillion Price is local to the area, saying, “I’ve lived here for 23 years. I graduated from Good Hope in 2017 and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. Cullman is home.”
District Manager Austin Riner added, “We couldn’t be any happier to be a part of the community and we’ll just do whatever we can to help out.”
The Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce and Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs welcomed the new franchise with a ribbon cutting Friday morning.
“There’s a lot of places in Alabama they could go, and we were their fifth location so that says a lot about the community itself because they could have chosen numerous other places,” said Susan Eller with the Cullman Economic Development Agency.
Tropical Smoothie Cafe franchises are currently partnering with No Kid Hungry to support efforts to end childhood hunger. From Aug. 31 to Oct. 4, $1 from every Sunshine Smoothie purchased will go to No Kid Hungry. Guests can also participate by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar.
