GOOD HOPE, Ala. – The postseason is heating up for high school basketball all across the state and one of Monday night’s 4A Sub-Regional matchups was hosted at Good Hope High School. After claiming the area championship last week, the Lady Raiders returned home for a Sub-Regional battle against Haleyville Monday night and knocked off the Lady Lions 69-33 to secure a spot at the Northwest Regional at Wallace State.

Rudi Derrick laid one in, and Kyndall Seal knocked down a three to make it a 17-0 game midway through the period. The Lady Raiders led the way 20-3 with around three minutes to play in the first and Maddox scored the final 10 points of the quarter for Good Hope, including a three at the buzzer, to put the Lady Raiders in front 30-11 going into the second.

A three-pointer from Kyndall Seal and a bucket by Charly Johnson made it a 35-17 game midway through the second quarter and a three-pointer from Bailey Tetro made it 38-20 later in the period. Baskets by Derrick and Bailey Tetro stretched the lead to 42-23 and Maddox hit a pair of free throws in the final minute of the period to give Good Hope a 44-23 advantage at the halftime break.

Another three-pointer by Maddox made it a 48-23 game early in the third quarter and Derrick laid one in to keep the Lady Raiders in front 50-25. Johnson scored another easy basket inside to make it 53-25 later in the third and after Seal split a pair of free throws, Bailey Keef laid one in at the buzzer to put Good Hope on top 56-27 heading into the final frame.

After another Bailey Tetro basket got the fourth quarter started, Desire’ Odachowksi drilled a three to stretch the lead to 61-27. Renee McLeod scored inside to add to the lead and Lexi Collins buried a three from the top of the key to make it a 66-30 game midway through the period. McLeod split a pair of free throws and Keef scored another basket in the final minute to wrap up a 69-33 win for the Lady Raiders.
