Obituary: Cody “CJ” Grattan

A celebration of life service for Cody “CJ” Grattan, of Hanceville, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 4 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Hanceville. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will accept friends for a visitation at the church on Friday from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Grattan was born on March 22, 2001 in Cullman, Alabama. He died at the age of 20 at his residence on January 31, 2022. CJ was always full of life to say the least.

He had a soft spot for being a social butterfly. Not only did he enjoy creating laughter, but he also had a way of putting a smile on the faces of those around him. Even his smile would light up the room. Making sure you felt special was a key role in his life. Aside from his bright personality, CJ was an avid weightlifter. He had a passion for going to the gym, working out and staying active. CJ will be missed by many family and friends.

Survivors include his mother: Jennifer (Jim) Miller; father: Sean Grattan; siblings: Cole Grattan, Savannah Grattan and Alex Miller; grandmother: Jean Cline; great-grandmother: Ruth Edmondson; grandfather: Carter Miller; uncles: Zack Cline and Tom Herd; an aunt: Wendy Herd and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Mr. Grattan was preceded in death by his grandmother: Sandy Miller and grandfather: Carl Edmondson.
