CULLMAN, Ala. – Due to the renewal of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s official guidelines for this school year, the option to sell lockers to students for the 2021-2022 year has been left up to each individual school. Fairview Middle School recently released a statement on their decision not to sell lockers on campus this year.

Cullman County Schools Representative Ty Watwood, he shared, “It is entirely up to the school. Lockers are optional, so this is on a school-by-school basis, depending on the situation and layout of the school. Lockers were not allowed due to COVID, but this year, it is up to each individual school.”

Cullman City Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff also spoke on the recent update to CDC guidelines, saying, “The current plan for the 2021 school year is for Cullman Middle School to utilize lockers. Both Cullman Middle School and Cullman High School will also be using locker room lockers this year. We are in the process of finalizing our recommended protocols for the new school year in regard to COVID-19 safety, and those will be announced early next week. We are also waiting on any additional guidance from the Alabama Department of Public Health. The ADPH guidance, as well as local data, will determine any future potential modifications in our protocols. But making sure students, teachers and staff have a safe and successful school year is, of course, our top priority.”
