DECATUR, Ala. – The next stop on our series “Day Trippin’” is Morgan County’s GoFAR USA Park. This unique adventure park was opened in March 2020 by Patrick and Emily Fagerman with the ultimate hope for visitors to “Get Out and Do.”

GoFAR USA Park sits on 60 acres of beautiful land between Hartselle and Priceville just a few minutes from Interstate 65. The activities offered at the park are vast and for all ages and abilities.

We started the day by making friends with a family from Huntsville and playing a game of human foosball before taking off for the three large zip lines.

The zip lines ranged in speed and height with each having varying weight limits. The “glider” is probably best for adults while the kids would enjoy any of the zip lines. You have a chance to soar beneath the towering pines in this fabulous park feature.

Next, we took a walk to visit the parks petting zoo. We were met by some of the friendliest goats one could possibly meet. Guests were able to meet the silky chickens, pigs, horses, bunnies and ducks. All of the animals were incredibly friendly and owner Patrick Fagerman explained that the petting zoo is evolving and he has plans to bring in additional animals and features.

When visiting the petting zoo, keep your eye out for sweet Lily – the family’s beautiful border collie. Give Jack the goat, Coach the horse and Ernest the duck a shoutout as well.

One of the more intimidating features of the GoFAR USA Park is the U.S. Marine Corps inspired obstacle course. Just watching a demonstration of the course had us exhausted!

Area Marine recruiters, junior ROTC groups and others have used the park’s course for training and experience. Whether you try it for fun or for speed, it’s definitely demanding.

Around the obstacle course is the “Ninja” course with different elements like one might see on “American Ninja Warrior”; another great challenge for those who want to push themselves.

Lastly, we headed to the paintball range. For an additional $5, you can get in some cool target practice with plenty of targets to take aim and test your skills.

There is a lot to see at this hidden gem. For those with smaller kids, there are plenty of additional activities including the natural playscape, 24-foot climbing wall, Gaga ball arena, tetherball and much more.

The park contains over 4 miles of running and biking trails for both beginners and experienced riders. Bring your own bike or rent a mountain bike, motorized scooter or trail board.

GoFAR USA Park is a great place for field trips, birthday parties or special events and has a covered area with picnic tables for a great picnic lunch. The natural surroundings also provide plenty of shade during your day of adventure.

Admission is $12 per person with discounts for some groups and additional charges for paintball and equipment rentals.

They’re open year-round Tuesday – Saturday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sundays from 2–6 p.m. For more information on the many activities or to book a party or event, visit the GoFAR USA Park Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/gofarusapark

They are located at 895 S Bethel Road, Decatur, Alabama 35603.
