Carmen Oden Underberg, June 4, 1958 – Dec. 28, 2020

Carmen was loved by all who knew her, and in turn she dearly loved her family and friends. The most special people in her life were her husband Jeff, her daughter Natalie, and her two special grandchildren. She was known as Mimo to her grandchildren.

She and her mother, Ollie Oden, owned and operated a day care center, Romper Room, for 50 years. She always remembered each and every child who walked through the doors of Romper Room and always said she “helped raise” the child. Many children who attended Romper Room eventually sent their own children to the day care because of the special relationship they had with Ollie and Carmen.

Carmen was most known for her beautiful soprano voice. She sang in many wedding and funerals, and the most requested song she sang was The Lord’s Prayer. To hear her sing was like listening to an angel. Even more special was that her husband, Jeff, is an organist, and to hear them perform together was special for all who heard them.

She will be missed by her family and those who knew who her. The family appreciates all the special prayers, memories, and condolences they have received during her illness and death.

Carmen is survived by her husband Jeffrey Underberg; mother Ollie Carden Oden; daughter Natalie Oden Hope (Kyle); step-daughter Cacey Thomason; grandchildren Ollie Kate and Walton Hope; step-grandchildren Jamie, Sylena, and Steven Thomason; step-great grandson Wyatt Thomason; sister Sabrina Oden Buettner (Jeff); and brother William “Bill” Harold Oden II.

She was preceded in death by her father William Harold Oden.
