Obituary: Kenneth Ray Ponder

Kenneth Ray Ponder, 79, of Addison entered into rest Monday, Oct. 19, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Sept. 7, 1941 in Cullman County, Alabama.  Kenneth was a loving, caring man who never met a stranger and loved to give hugs and help others.  He loved his family, especially his grandbabies and was a good provider for his family.  He was one of the original organizers of the Addison Rescue Squad, where he served for 25 years.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Sardis #2 Baptist Church, where the service will begin at 2 p.m.  Brother William McClellan and Brother Jeff Wiggins will officiate.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Doris Ponder; son Byron Ponder; daughters Kim Wright and Deeanna (Donnie) Aldridge; grandchildren Chase (Aerial) Aldridge, Kayla (Cody) Hall, Levi (Mallary) Aldridge, Skylier (Ali) Aldridge and Jacob Ponder; great-grandchildren Blakelyn Hall, Daxton Aldridge and Baisley Hall; and brother Wayne (Sherry) Ponder.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Oscar “Ott” Ponder and Josie Brock Ponder; brothers Bud Ponder, Doyle Ponder, and Dempsey Ponder; and sisters Doris Jones, Dean McNutt, Rachel Steele and Nell Ponder.
