GOOD HOPE, Ala. – Bakery lovers, rejoice! After a little more than a year, local favorite, The Sunflour Bakery & Eatery, will officially reopen to the public Tuesday, July 14.  On Monday, a celebratory ribbon cutting was held, and owners Brad and Amanda Quattlebaum welcomed representatives from the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce and Good Hope City Council, along with Rep. Corey Harbison, R-Good Hope.

“It’s been a long road; we’re excited, nervous and scared – all in one!” Amanda Quattlebaum shared. “We’re going to be super busy. We thank everyone for everything. Even though we’ve done this once, it’s still like starting on day one. We’re excited to be open.”

Last May the bakery burned and was a total loss.

“On May 30 last year, our business burned,” continued Quattlebaum, “in what they assumed was an electric fire. We lost everything, and it’s taken us a little over a year to be rebuilt and restarted.”

Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce Interim President and CEO Peggy Smith shared, “We’re really excited about being here today for the reannouncement and reopening. This is fabulous- after several months of not being able to operate and now rebuilding, we’re just really excited to be a part of this.”

“We did a little informercial here a couple of weeks ago and we had the most response we’ve ever had out of 11 that we’ve put on,” smiled Good Hope Mayor Jerry Bartlett. “I think we had over 10,000 people that had liked and shared it. I told Amanda and asked her if she was getting a little nervous and she said, ‘Yes,’ and so I know they’re going to be bombarded tomorrow and that’s a good thing. We’re so proud of Brad and Amanda for coming back here to Good Hope and the whole time they were out here building people would stop and be all excited about when they’re going to happen and now that’s here!”
