CULLMAN, Ala. – A man and woman were arrested this week in Cullman County, charged with multiple sex crimes against a child younger than 12.

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said Amy Nicole Lovell, 29, of Remlap and Justin Anthony Jeffries, 26, of Arab have been charged with aggravated child abuse, sexual torture, sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 and second-degree assault. Jeffries is also facing a second count of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

According to a media release from the CCSO, investigators conducted a short investigation, with assistance from the Cullman County Department of Human Resources (DHR), Cullman Advocacy Center (CAC) and the Cullman County District Attorney’s Office, determining that Lovell and Jeffries allegedly committed the multiple sex crimes against a minor child younger than 12.

The CCSO said Jeffries fled to Oregon, where the Canby Police Department took him into custody.  He is being transported to the Cullman County Detention Center. His bond has been revoked. Lovell has made bond.
