HANCEVILLE, Ala – The Bulldogs returned to Lane Horton Gymnasium after knocking off J.B. Pennington earlier this week and this time, they were facing Glencoe for this year’s 3A, Area 12 tournament championship. Hanceville set the tone right out of the gate and handled the Yellow Jackets 73-41 to earn another home game in the sub-regional round next week.
Two quick baskets from Cainon Moore and Brodie Malcom gave the Bulldogs a 4-0 start and Malcom later finished an and-one play at the line to extend the lead to 8-2. Malcom collected two more buckets and a steal to make it 14-4 with less than three minutes to play in the opening quarter and Raiden Morgan knocked down a jumper to give Hanceville an 18-6 advantage. Morgan added another basket at the buzzer to make it a 20-6 game going into the second quarter.
The Bulldogs were relentless on the defensive end, pressing Glencoe from free throw line to free throw line and generating their fair share of turnovers. Matthew Cornelius buried a three to add to the lead and Moore and Malcom each scored another basket to give Hanceville a 27-6 lead early in the second. Another Malcom layup made it 31-10 with five minutes to play in the half and the Bulldogs pulled ahead 35-16 after another bucket from Moore. Tyson Bellmon drilled a three to put Hanceville on top 38-16 with a minute remaining in the period and Zach Campbell scored back to back buckets just before the break to make it a 42-19 game at the half.
Bellmon knocked down another trey and Moore scored inside to extend the lead to 53-24 midway through the third quarter. Ethen Roberts scored to make it 55-24 with less than three minutes remaining in the period and after Izayah Glenon was fouled at the buzzer, he drilled a pair of free throws to give the Bulldogs a 59-24 lead going into the fourth.
Garrett Turner laid one in to add to the lead early in the fourth quarter and another steal by Malcom led to two more easy points and a 63-28 Hanceville lead. Morgan knocked down a three-pointer to midway through the period to keep the Bulldogs in front by 36 and Hanceville cruised to a 73-41 victory.
Malcom led the Bulldogs with 18 points in the win, followed by Morgan with 15 and Moore with 10. Campbell and Bellmon each posted eight and Glenon finished with six. Hanceville will return home Tuesday night to face Locust Fork in the sub-regional round.

Hartselle 79 – Cullman 48 (varsity boys) 6A, Area 14
The Bearcats fell to Hartselle in the 6A, Area 14 tournament title game Friday night and will travel to play Muscle Shoals in the sub-regional round Tuesday night.
Oneonta 75 – Good Hope 68 (varsity boys) 4A, Area 12
The Raiders fell to Oneonta in 4A, Area 12 tournament finals and will travel to play D.A.R. in the sub-regional round Tuesday night.
New Hope 52 – Vinemont 39 (varsity boys) 3A, Area 13
The Eagles fell to New Hope in Friday night’s 3A, Area 13 tournament championship game and will travel to Winfield for the sub-regional round Tuesday night.
New Hope 38 – Holly Pond 36 (varsity girls) 3A, Area 13
The Lady Broncos fell in a narrow loss at New Hope in the 3A, Area 13 tournament finals and will travel to Winfield for the sub-regionals Monday or Tuesday.
