6 days out, Smith Lake boater still missing

SMITH LAKE/CRANE HILL, Ala. – The search for missing boater, 26-year-old Kelsey Starling of Troy, continues with no new developments Wednesday, July 10, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division Northern District Assistant Commander Sgt. Chad Pate. Starling has been missing since a two-boat collision the night of July 4.

“The search efforts resumed this morning,” Pate said in a media release Wednesday morning. “North Alabama Search Dog has been utilizing cadaver dogs.  Alexander City Rescue Squad is here with a 360-degree imaging sonar.  It is placed on the bottom and gives a 360-degree image of the area. ALEA Aviation conducted an aerial search this morning and will do the same this evening. Smith Lake Task Force, Winston County EMA and ALEA Marine patrol Division are assisting in the search efforts.”
