DODGE CITY, Ala. – ABC Family Medicine in Dodge City held a formal grand opening Saturday.

The practice opened for business back on Feb. 18, but Office Manager Jas Talyor said, “We just wanted to do like a grand opening; we wanted warmer weather, to be more comfortable with our surroundings, and meet more people. I feel like we’ve drawn some established relationships.”

ABC Family Medicine is a primary care practice owned by nurse practitioner Renae Jones.

“We’re excited to be in this community because there’s nothing like this in this community; this community has two pharmacies and no place to go for a doctor-type visit,” said Taylor.

Medical assistant Brandi Grace said, “If you’re looking for a family care provider, come see us. Call us, make an appointment or walk in. We’re excited to be in Dodge City.”

Shared Jones, “We’re excited to be a part of the Dodge City community. We’ve already met some great wonderful people here, neighbors of the community. We’re excited about providing more health care to them and just being a service to these people, local, and of course anybody coming off the interstate.”

Jones continued, “We take all different types of insurance; we’re in the process of getting covered with Medicaid. We take all ages. We’re a general practice. We’re able to do wellness visits, sports physicals, DOT physicals and just general health. We can also do some urgent care stuff, so we’re a walk-in clinic.”

Jones said ABC Family Medicine will soon have X-rays capabilities.

Jones started her medical career in the emergency room, but “the dream was to own a clinic providing (care) for all ages. I started out wanting to do women’s health, and then worked in internal medicine and fell in love with the adult geriatric population and I knew I wanted to open a family practice, so then I went and got experience at ABC Pediatrics and fell in love with the pediatric population so I just love being able to care for all ages.”

So, how did she end up in Dodge City?

Smiled Jones, “Well, it’s by God’s grace. God actually put me here. Honestly, it’s just a blessing from God. I was actually looking at a clinic in town and that deal fell through and I came down to the little town of Dodge City and this one presented itself and I’ve seen that it’s a community with a great need for a health provider here. They haven’t really had that service for a very long time. The doctor that was here did more pain management and tried to do rehab for them, so there was a greater need for the community in general for all ages and genders, and that brought me here.”

ABC Family Medicine is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The address is 24 County Road 262, Hanceville, AL 35077. Find out more at www.ABCFamilyMed.com or www.facebook.com/abcfamilymedicineinc.
